The Somali armed group al Shabaab has shot dead Hirshabelle state lawmaker Mohamed Mohamud Siyad on Sunday, close family members have confirmed.
The regional member of parliament was abducted by the group near Bala’ad district while traveling to the capital Mogadishu from Jowhar, the administrative capital of the state.
He was traveling by the public service vehicle during the incident.
Government authorities didn’t comment on the incident.
There was local and international flights lockdown since March when the Federal Government imposed the ban to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
The flights were resumed on Sunday (today) following cabinet meeting last week.
